These printed forms of Kanji preserve the radical where possible, while also retaining other structural simplifications from Shinkentai. They would normally be sorted by the stroke-count method; here, however, to make collation easier, they are sorted following their respective lists.
Characters are simplified based on a variety of factors, including their use for a semantic rather than a phonetic usage. When a character is simplified, it is treated as an analogous component applying to all cases including as an independent character, though exceptions do exist, most notably in the character 岡(冈). Nevertheless, when a component replacement occurs, it will utilize an angular form with straight-line strokes (usually the Kangxi dictionary form) rather than its modern handwritten form.
